Have you ever wondered how the earliest Christians worshiped as they gathered to remember Christ? While we have a few New Testament texts that describe what those early Christians did as they came together, we don't know much about what they sang, if they did at all. We do have several texts that scholars refer to as "Christ hymns" (Philippians 2:6-11, Colossians 1:15-20, John 1:1-14, Hebrews 1:1-4), but we have no proof that these hymns were sung in a church worship service. In today's episode, Dr. Corey Auen (Professor of Worship Arts) shares his insight into these Christ hymns and discusses how these texts can help us avoid what Robert Webber calls "worship narcissism."
